Supporting Employees
Fundraising
We offer £100 to each employee who is fundraising for a good cause and in the UK and also run a Workplace Giving scheme which enables employees to donate tax-efficiently to charity.
Volunteering
Employees are entitled to take two working days a year to volunteer for a recognised community service or registered charity of their choice. Betfair actively supports local community projects near its offices, including providing student mentors and work experience placements, in addition to funding. We also encourage and facilitate employee volunteering, for example with charity partners and through local volunteering centres.
In 2012, we had over 250 members of staff volunteering for many different charities of their choice. Each year we give one employee the opportunity to join The Bobby Moore Fund on an overseas project, which in addition to raising funds to tackle bowel cancer in the UK supports international projects that help to improve young lives abroad. Paul Cockburn, Operation Trainer, joined volunteers on ‘Project Namibia’ in 2011 and spent 10 days in the Tubusis Settlement, in the Damaraland region at the foot of the Brandberg Massif, to renovate the local school’s facilities. The project saw the volunteers spending long days in the heat painting and decorating, repairing the building, extending the school and creating a shaded area and a football pitch. Developed in partnership with local villagers, the work undertaken has left a lasting legacy for the community.
